Quick answer: Delhi’s grid delivers voltage swings, harmonics and brief outages that quietly shorten the life of servers, CCTV DVRs, Tally workstations and networking gear. “Power conditioning” is the equipment that cleans that supply. For most Delhi offices the right stack is an online (double-conversion) UPS for IT loads plus a servo stabilizer for the building feed; expect ₹8,000–₹45,000 per UPS for 1–3 kVA and ₹15,000–₹80,000 for stabilizers. CNC has supplied and maintained power backup for Delhi offices, labs and hospitals since 1996.
What is power conditioning?
Power conditioning is any device that sits between the mains and your equipment and corrects one or more supply problems: voltage that’s too high or low, surges and spikes, frequency drift, electrical noise/harmonics, and momentary dropouts. A plain UPS only bridges outages; a conditioning UPS or stabilizer also fixes the quality of the power while the grid is on — which in Delhi is most of the damage.

Types of power conditioning systems
| Device | What it fixes | Doesn’t fix | Typical Delhi use | Price range (2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Surge protector / spike guard | Short high-voltage spikes | Sags, outages, noise | Every desk, router, TV | ₹500–₹3,000 |
| Servo / static voltage stabilizer | Sustained under/over-voltage (e.g. 170–270 V) | Outages | Building or floor feed, ACs, printers | ₹15,000–₹80,000 |
| Line-interactive UPS | Outages (minutes), mild voltage correction | Harmonics, frequency | Single PCs, small offices | ₹4,000–₹15,000 |
| Online double-conversion UPS | Everything — outputs a freshly generated sine wave | — | Servers, NAS, CCTV NVR, medical/lab equipment, Tally server | ₹18,000–₹1.5 lakh (1–10 kVA) |
| Isolation transformer | Ground loops, common-mode noise | Outages | Sensitive instruments, audio/medical | ₹12,000–₹60,000 |
| Power factor correction panel | Poor power factor penalties on the bill | Supply quality to devices | Manufacturing units, large offices | ₹40,000+ |
Which one does your Delhi office need?
- 5–15 PCs, one router, no server: a 2–3 kVA line-interactive UPS for the network rack, spike guards at desks, stabilizer on the AC line.
- Server / NAS / Tally server / CCTV NVR: online UPS sized at 1.5× load, 15–30 min runtime, plus a stabilizer if incoming voltage regularly drops below 190 V (common in West Delhi and industrial areas in summer).
- Clinics, labs, diagnostic centres: online UPS + isolation transformer for the instrument circuit. Manufacturers usually specify this in the warranty terms.
- Manufacturing / warehouse: servo stabilizer for the plant feed, PFC panel, online UPS only for the office/IT segment.
Applications where conditioning is non-negotiable
- Data centres and server rooms — a brownout during a write can corrupt a RAID array. Most of the data-recovery jobs we see from Delhi offices in May–July are power-related.
- CCTV systems — DVR/NVR hard disks fail early on unclean power; cameras reboot and lose footage.
- Medical and lab equipment — calibration drift and board failures.
- Networking gear — firewalls and switches hang on sags; you lose internet without any “outage”.
- Cloud and remote work — the office may be “in the cloud”, but the router, firewall and Wi-Fi are still on Delhi’s grid.
Maintenance and lifecycle
| Item | Interval | What’s done |
|---|---|---|
| UPS battery health | Quarterly | Load test, voltage check, terminal cleaning |
| UPS battery replacement | 2–3 years (SMF), 4–5 years (tubular) | Delhi heat halves rated battery life — plan for the short end |
| Stabilizer | Yearly | Carbon brush / servo motor inspection, calibration |
| Surge protectors | After any major surge, or 3 years | Replace — MOVs degrade silently |
| Full power audit | Before every summer (April) | Load re-sizing, earthing check |
Poor earthing is the most common thing we find on a first visit. A UPS cannot compensate for a missing or high-resistance earth — get it measured (should be under 1 ohm for IT loads).
Cost summary (Delhi, August 2026)
Small office complete setup (2 kVA online UPS + 5 kVA stabilizer + spike guards + installation): ₹35,000–₹60,000. Server-room grade (5–10 kVA online UPS with 30 min runtime + stabilizer): ₹1–₹2.5 lakh. Annual maintenance contract including battery testing: from ₹4,000/year per UPS. GST extra.
How CNC helps

FAQs
Is a stabilizer needed if I have an online UPS?
An online UPS regulates its own output, but very low input voltage (below ~160 V) forces it onto battery repeatedly, wearing batteries out. In areas with chronic low voltage, a stabilizer in front of the UPS pays for itself in battery life.
How do I size a UPS?
Add the wattage of everything it must run, divide by 0.8 to get VA, then add 25–50% headroom. A 2 kVA online UPS comfortably runs a small server, switch, firewall and NVR.
What about an inverter instead of a UPS?
Home inverters switch over in 10–20 ms, enough to reboot a server or corrupt a write. Use them for lights and fans, not IT loads.
Do you install in offices outside Delhi?
Yes, across Delhi NCR — Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad — with West Delhi and Central Delhi covered same day.
