Short answer: if your MacBook is still under Apple’s warranty, covered by AppleCare+, or included in an Apple service programme, take it to an Apple Authorised Service Provider — the repair may cost you nothing. If it is out of warranty, or Apple no longer services your model, an independent repair specialist usually repairs the faulty part instead of replacing a whole assembly, and costs less. This guide explains how to decide. For the full price list by model, see MacBook Repair Cost in Delhi 2026.
Decide in four questions
- Is the MacBook under Apple’s one-year warranty or AppleCare+? Yes → go to Apple first. A third-party repair while the warranty is active can cost you coverage (see below).
- Is there an Apple service programme for your model and fault? Check Apple’s support site with your serial number. If your fault is covered, Apple repairs it free.
- Does Apple still service your model? Apple calls a model vintage 5–7 years after it was last sold (repair only if parts are available) and obsolete after 7 years (no hardware service). For these, an independent specialist is often the only option.
- Is your data backed up? Whoever repairs it, back up first. If the MacBook will not start, ask for data transfer before any board work.
Apple Service Centre vs independent repair — side by side
| Factor | Apple / Apple Authorised Service Provider | Independent specialist (such as CNC) |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | MacBooks under warranty, AppleCare+ or a service programme | Out-of-warranty, vintage and obsolete MacBooks |
| Repair approach | Usually replaces the full assembly (display, top case, logic board) | Can repair at component level — for example one failed chip on the logic board |
| Older models | Vintage: only if parts are available. Obsolete: no hardware service | Serviced if parts can be sourced (CNC services MacBooks from 2013 onward) |
| Parts | Genuine Apple parts | Depends on the shop — ask which part will be fitted and get it on the written quote |
| Warranty on the repair | 90 days or the rest of your Apple warranty | CNC: 90-day same-issue warranty |
| Quote | After diagnosis at the centre | CNC: free diagnosis, written quote before any work |
Does independent repair void your Apple warranty?
While your Apple warranty or AppleCare+ is active, Apple can refuse to cover damage caused by service done by anyone who is not Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. So for a MacBook still in warranty, go to Apple first. Once the warranty has ended there is nothing left to void, and the choice comes down to cost, turnaround and whether Apple still services the model.

Genuine, used and compatible parts — what to ask
Independent shops may fit a genuine part taken from another MacBook, a new compatible part, or a repaired original. All three can work well; the problem is not knowing which one you got. Before you agree to a repair — at any shop, including CNC — ask which part will be fitted and make sure it is written on the quote together with the repair warranty.
When is a MacBook worth repairing?
A MacBook Air or Pro from 2017 onward is almost always worth repairing. A battery (₹3,999–₹9,999) or a screen (₹8,999–₹28,999) costs far less than a new MacBook, and these machines have years of use left. For 2013–2016 models it depends on the fault: batteries and screens usually yes, major logic board damage sometimes no. A good repairer will tell you when a repair is not worth it.
Your data on a dead MacBook
A MacBook that will not power on almost always still has its data. CNC transfers data from dead MacBooks routinely. For failed drives there is professional data recovery in Delhi from ₹2,000 with a No Data No Charge policy — including newer MacBooks where the storage is soldered to the logic board.
Before you hand over your MacBook — to anyone
- Back up with Time Machine or copy your important files.
- Note your serial number (Apple menu → About This Mac) and check its warranty status on Apple’s website.
- Turn off Find My Mac and remove any firmware password, or keep them ready — the repairer needs them to test the machine.
- Photograph the MacBook so its condition is on record.
- Get a written quote showing the repair, the part and the warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does repairing my MacBook outside Apple void the warranty?
While the Apple warranty or AppleCare+ is active, damage caused by a repair from someone who is not Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider may not be covered. Use Apple while you are in warranty. After the warranty ends, there is nothing to void.
Is CNC an Apple Authorised Service Provider?
No. Classic Network and Computers (CNC) is an independent multi-brand repair specialist in West Patel Nagar, New Delhi. It repairs out-of-warranty MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, Intel and Apple silicon, with free diagnosis and a 90-day same-issue warranty.
Should I buy AppleCare+ for my MacBook?
AppleCare+ extends Apple’s cover and includes accidental damage for a service fee. It is worth it for a new MacBook that travels a lot or is shared in an office. It must be bought within Apple’s time limit after purchase. See our warranty extension guide for AppleCare+ and other brands.
Will Apple repair my old MacBook?
Apple repairs vintage models (5–7 years after last sale) only if parts are available, and does not provide hardware service for obsolete models (more than 7 years). Independent specialists can often still repair these machines.
How long does MacBook repair take at CNC?
Battery replacement is usually done the same day and screen replacement in 1–2 days. Logic board repair takes 2–5 days depending on the fault and parts.
How much does MacBook repair cost in Delhi?
At CNC, MacBook screen replacement costs ₹8,999–₹28,999 and battery replacement ₹3,999–₹9,999, depending on the model. The complete price list is in our MacBook repair cost guide.
